Sam Vaughn: Ascending To New Heights

Sam Vaughn, is now a graduate student at the University of Central Oklahoma, continues to lead as the lead alto saxophone at UCO. Last summer, Vaughn expanded his experience and exposure by touring Spain with the UCO Jazz Band. He's currently organizing a European concert tour for the upcoming summer.

He is the winner of the 2024 North American Saxophone Alliance competition for jazz soloists that just concluded in March of this year. He has recently returned from a concert tour in Euroupe.

Previously recognized by the Oklahoma Jazz Educators Association as the Collegiate Jazz Player of the Year, Vaughn has been active in the Oklahoma music scene since high school. His technical skill and musicality have been noted by peers and mentors alike.

Starting his musical journey in the 5th grade with the clarinet before moving to the saxophone, Vaughn's dedication has only grown. Beyond performing, he contributes to the local music community as an educator.

With ambitions rooted in both performance and education, Vaughn is navigating his path in the music industry, guided by a clear vision for his future.
