The future of jazz takes the stage.
The Summer Jazz Collective (SJC) is Oklahoma’s premier immersive jazz education program—an elite five-day experience presented by the University of Oklahoma Jazz Program in partnership with Jazz in June.
Each summer, a select group of talented young musicians come together to rehearse, jam, and perform alongside some of the most respected jazz artists in the world. Under the direct mentorship of OU faculty and internationally acclaimed festival headliners, SJC participants refine their craft through daily masterclasses, sectionals, and real-world performance opportunities.
Their journey culminates here: Saturday night at Jazz in June, where the SJC ensemble opens the final evening of the festival. This is not just a student concert—it’s a bold statement of talent, collaboration, and the next generation of jazz excellence. Each performer receives a festival honorarium and the chance to share the spotlight with legends.
🎶 Past collaborators have included iconic names like Randy Brecker, Isaiah Sharkey, Vincent Herring, Steve Wiest, and more.
Come experience the rising stars of jazz before they take on the world stage.
Free and open to the public.
